The Real Target of the Liberal Social Doctrine

I was perusing my dictionary this morning at 4:00 am for something I was writing when I came across something that struck me. I thought I would put it up here and see if anyone else notices what jumped right off the pages at me. The following are definitions to words I found in my copy of Websters New World Dictionary for Young Readers circa 1979. I purchased the book at a garage sale for Tami and I to use playing Scrabble..........

Liberal- adj. Open to new ideas, broad minded tolerant. In favor of reform or progress in politics or religion. A person in favor of reform or progress.

Liberalism-N. the quality of being liberal, as in politics.

Conservative-adj. wanting to keep things as they are and being against change or reform. cautious or safe, not risky.

Conservatism-N. a feeling or working against changes and reform especially in politics and social matters.

Liberty- the condition of being free from the control of others. the right or power to believe and act in the way one thinks is right.

Religion- a particular system of belief or worship built around God, moral ideals, a philosophy of life etc.

Politics- the way one thinks or believes in political matters. The use of schemes to get what one wants, especially power........

See if anyone notices what I did. I will return to this in a couple of days see what we have.Type Your Article Here ...

Freewill

Tesla - Interesting study on definitions my friend.

In the case of both liberty and religion we encounter the concept of free will. The promise of liberty and freedom of religion are written into our founding documents and forms the basis for the preservation of free will unencumbered by politics or government. While conservatives wish to preserve, or be cautious with, this liberty and freedom as was originally established in our constitution, liberals wish to reform or change the system that preserves liberty and freedom by use of politics or government. The former seeks to limit government and the influence of politics, while the latter uses it as a tool to scheme, grow, and accumulate power in the central government by use of "politics". Conservatives (note I did not say Republicans) seek to preserve/safeguard free will, while liberals (note I did not say Democrats) will eventually subvert free will to the power of government in the name of "change" or "progress". That is just one man's opinion based on the definitions you have provided and of course a good deal of simplification and generalization.

IMSHO you surmise is correct. However I was looking for something a tad deeper. The definitions were pulled from a dictionary for kids. Give you a hint. Examine how you feel as you read each definition.

Well the definitions certainly seem simplistic and general in nature, and if I were to read them without the benefit of my life's experience, I would say it makes the definition of "liberal" certainly sound more appealing than the definition of "conservative", especially to those with a young "X-Games" type of mentality. So in that regard I suppose you are alluding to this dictionary and it's "definitions" in much the same way as one might view what has been going on with public schools over the last 40 years; A bit of political indoctrination for the youngsters.

Indeed Freewill. As I was reading the liberal definition I noticed a feeling of calm as I read. When I read the conservative definition it seemed harsh and cold I felt nearly rebuked reading it. I studied a lot of psychology and read about 100's of studies some done for the military but most done for marketing. They explained the use of certain words and phrases, colors as well to induce certain feelings in the subject and that stuff works.....well. They also covered the use of subliminal devices to illicit responses. Marketing folks and other groups can, with little effort, create Pavlov's dog without hardly lifting a finger anymore. Thanks for checking this out, I have found this kind of thing disturbing on many levels, not the least of which is the long range planning and goals it may represent.

Tesla, Freewill, Owl,

You three make me feel dumb just "standing" next to you. I "felt" the same way you did when reading the definitions. The only difference? Before I read your comments, my first comment was going to be something flip like 'HaHa, It turns out I am a liberal'. No lie.

So apparently the hocuspocus works on more than just kids.

I have been on the same page you are now on for a good long time now. Anybody who thinks that today's mess in this country isn't the result of a long drawn out and choreographed effort, is sadly naive. As early as 1950 the communists announced what they were going to do to American society and how they would do it. They didn't lie and to this day there are far to many people who refuse to believe they told the truth. Yes, trite as it may seem to some, setting the "tone" of definitions in a dictionary is a part of that changing of America.

They said they were going to change the way Americans think. Using our educational system against us has been one of their favorite and most effective ploys.

LOL I am beginning to enjoy this cold shoulder treatment. We can say whatever we want to anywhere we want to, no longer confined to our own little nest. No worries about gang collapses and especially no kids pretending to be adults to put up with.

Only thing that hasn't changed , no attempt at intelligent conversation from the left.

It might have something to do with your new Avatar. Looks just like I thought you would. LOL!

Don't go getting thin skinned on me now, when it comes to being clownish, I was born that way. The fact that I make Rock Hudson look like a sissy boy is no big deal, after all he was.

The Vine needs a good dose of Miracle Grow, it sure does seem to be shriveling up these days.

Being poor isn't so bad (like hell), I'm starting to believe that you end up poor not due to a low level of education or lack of ambition but due to a higher level of integrity.

Absolutely Owl having "high principles" and living by them will land you in the poor house all day. Ya like the pic I take it? Tami did that on her cell phone 2 months ago took me that long to get it from my E-mail to here. A new freind MWeaver helped me with a good hint.

I would rather be poor and well rested than rich and an insomniac. We have these few moments in the flesh to learn to enjoy and to give those things to others as we can. Apparently the next step after flesh is a busy one since no one has really reported back yet.

I've noticed this MWeaver person, have been tempted to extend an FR but I am really slow about doing that kind of thing. The fact that you seem to take him as being for real is a point in his favor for sure.

Yes, I really do like that Avatar, hope you keep it, just don't go Bonos Rama on us.

How is Tami doing? Hopefully her health has improved. Would be nice if all of you could move down to Florida, you obviously miss living there, and at least the weather is a bit easier on the poor.

It's been awhile since I bugged you about this, another of your genius stories would go over rather well right now. Bug bug.

I have a story that is actually 3 stories written in other persona southern tesla as it were. It is funny but it is also very different from my normal. I will quit procrastinating and put them together fore Sunday and see what you think. I will also re-post Mary Poppins as well my others next week. I very much doubt I will go bonos I may think a lot of myself but not that much.

Tami is seeing the docs about her thing. They gave her some pills she says they are not working. She had enough tests to get an MBA IMSHO but we shall see. At least she is attending to it.

What is with all the online showing then not showing are we missing the meetings or just not being invited?
